BIASC Welcomes Three New Board Members

BIASC is excited to welcome three new members to our Board of Directors. Each brings unique strengths and perspectives—from personal survivor stories to professional expertise in medicine, caregiving, and advocacy—that will help advance our mission of creating a better future through brain injury prevention, research, education, and advocacy. Together, their combined experiences will strengthen our efforts to support survivors and their families, expand awareness, and build a stronger community of care across South Carolina.

Amanda Ames
With experience in business management, real estate, and nonprofit leadership, Amanda Ames brings both professional skill and personal passion to her role on the BIASC Board. When her husband sustained a TBI, she transitioned from her business career to become his full-time caregiver, dedicating herself to supporting his recovery. Alongside her advocacy and involvement in the BI community, Amanda enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and enjoying the beach. She is committed to helping survivors and their families find strength, connection, and hope.

Luke Bohnenberger
As a TBI survivor, Luke Bohnenberger has transformed his recovery journey into a calling to uplift others. Today, he serves as a BI coach and motivational speaker, working with survivors, caregivers, and professionals to provide hope and practical tools for healing. Luke also serves on the SC Brain Injury Leadership Council, as a board member for BIASC, and as part of the Speakers Bureau for the Brain Injury Association of America. Through his voice and advocacy, Luke is committed to building stronger, more supportive communities.

Mohit Datta, M.D.
Dr. Mohit Datta brings deep medical expertise to the BIASC Board, with a career dedicated to advancing BI care. After completing his internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and residency in Neurology at MUSC, he pursued fellowship training in Neurocritical Care at Johns Hopkins. He went on to serve as faculty at Ohio State University and later directed the Neuro ICU at the University of South Carolina for six years. Today, Dr. Datta focuses on concussion management in the community, leading the Carolina Brain Injury Center, which offers comprehensive neurological and rehabilitative services.
